10 Actors Who Shockingly Quit TV Shows After The First Season
1. Regé‑Jean Page - Bridgerton
Finally it’s the show that everyone has been talking about: Bridgerton.
First airing on Netflix on Christmas Day, 2020, this period piece quickly rose to the top of the trending list. Complete with a host of hilarious and very attractive actors, there really was nothing to complain about in terms of likeability. But where the audience sees a great time, the cast can have a very different experience.
Amongst the more recent controversy surrounding Syfy’s Krypton allegedly turning down Page for a role (allegedly because an executive said there was no way the series’ lead could be performed by a Black actor), some people are still left scratching their heads over why he left Bridgerton.
Unfortunately for the leagues of us who fell in love with him, Page only signed up to Bridgerton with the understanding of it being a one-season thing. He explained to Variety that he liked the idea of his appearance being limited, his arc being all done and complete before Season Two rolls around. He was happy to contribute his bit to the canon and then go on his way.
It’s perfectly reasonable, and he is sure to go on to do great things (some people are already turning their attention to the next James Bond!), but it doesn’t mean we have to be happy about it...
