Anyone who has seen the 1989 classic Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure will know that the titular pair have a run-in with former American president (and top hat enthusiast) Abraham Lincoln.

Alongside other figures like Genghis Khan and Joan of Arc, Lincoln is plucked from history by Bill and Ted as they attempt to complete a school project. After various hijinks, the famous folk help our heroes ace the assignment and pass the course with flying colours.

The man underneath the Abe Lincoln beard was Robert V. Barron, an actor with credits including The Dukes of Hazzard, Quantum Leap, and The Beverly Hillbillies (neat!). His career really took off after Bill & Ted though, and he even ended up playing Lincoln twice more.

He appeared as Honest Abe in an episode of Out of this World, a sitcom about a half-alien girl. He then donned the Lincoln cosplay one more time in 1991, in an episode of Get A Life, which was about a 30-year-old paper boy.

What's more, Barron had previously played Lincoln in 1972, on an episode of a show called Love, American Style! If you're going to get typecast, you may as well get typecast as one of America's greatest leaders, eh?
