10 Actors You Didn't Know Were Almost Cast In The Office
Seth Rogen as Dwight Schrute? Now that's a different vibe...
Even though it has been seven years since the finale of The Office aired, it's still a highly popular show that fans refuse to move on from. Why else would NBC be talking about the possibility of a reboot for their Peacock streaming platform?
The show is constantly referenced, re-watched, and discussed and even when the actors get new jobs on exciting shows or movies, they will forever be known primarily as their character in The Office.
For most of them, they ARE their roles and it's hard to think of anyone else taking them on. But that was almost the case for lots of them.
When the show was being cast, there were obviously a lot of people who auditioned for roles and the result could have made for an entirely different show...
10. Bob Odenkirk As Michael Scott
Initially, Steve Carell actually turned down the role as Michael Scott because he had signed on to another project. However his other show fell through, leaving him free to accept the role in The Office.
But before his acceptance, the creators brought Bob Odenkirk on board to play the role of Michael Scott. We even get a glimpse of his version of our favorite manager in Season 9, Episode 16 when Pam interviews for a job in Philadelphia.
Odenkirk has since become a well known actor for his character as Saul Goodman in Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad and you can see from his audition he would have been an admirable choice in place of Carell.
