10 Adult Animated Comedies To Try After Bojack Horseman

3. The Boondocks (2005)

Aaron McGruder's adaptation of his popular comic book series follows Huey and Riley Freeman, two young black boys who move from Chicago's south side to live with their grandfather in a predominantly white, suburban neighbourhood.

10-year old Huey is fiercely intelligent, radically opinioned and highly critical of modern black culture and the current administration whilst his 8-year old brother Riley is fully enamoured with the gangsta-rap lifestyle and everything that goes with it. Both attitudes grate on their grandfather's more traditional values.

The Boondocks cleverly satirises American culture, directly addressing racism and extreme ideologies while ridiculing and parodying racial stereotypes from both sides of the fence.

It's a very funny show that speaks a lot of truth and plainly exposes the racial inequalities and prejudices that still exist in our apparently forward-thinking society. It's a show that everyone should watch.
