10 Amazing Doctor Who Moments You've Probably Never Seen

Here's something that will make you feel old: the Weeping Angels haven't been the main villains of an episode since 2012's The Angels Take Manhattan. Isn't time a cruel mistress?

On the plus side though, it looks like the iconic foes will be returning in the upcoming Series 13, but if you just can't wait for an extra fix of that classic Angel spookiness, this overlooked 2009 webcast is exactly what you're looking for.

Narrated by John Barrowman's Captain Jack Harkness, A Ghost Story For Christmas tells a short story about a young woman, Julia Hardwick, who is stalked - and eventually captured - by a lone Weeping Angel.

It's simple and straightforward, successfully achieving that creepy, yet strangely beautiful tone that made Blink such a fantastic episode. Some of the dialogue here even gives Blink writer Steven Moffat a run for his money, with an absolutely killer final line right before Julia gets zapped:

"And ask yourself... why is she weeping? Well, maybe the Weeping Angel... is weeping for you."

It's chilling stuff, further supporting the argument that the Angels are the scariest villains in the entire show. Don't blink!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
