10 Amazing Horror TV Shows You Probably Missed

7. Masters Of Horror

The sinister Showtime series Masters of Horror is one that, while older, sure as hell brings the scares.

For the anthology series, some of the most legendary horror directors in history basically got free range to do whatever they wanted for an hour. Some directors included: John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper, Joe Dante, and Dario Argento.

The series itself is a mixed bag, but the peaks of the highs greatly outweigh the depths of the lows. Two of the most notable episodes are John Carpenter's 'Cigarette Burns' which follows a young Norman Reedus searching for a cursed film reel, and John Landis's 'Deer Woman' which is a horror-comedy about a... deer woman. Believe it or not, it's much better than the description would suggest.

Now, while the series is pretty great, the real reason it's on here is because of an episode infamous in the horror community. Twelve episodes of the first season aired on TV in the U.S, however thirteen were produced. That thirteenth episode entitled 'Imprint' was directed by Takashi Miike of 'Audion' and 'Ichi the Killer' fame. It's an endurance exercise that feels as though it's trying to break the viewer, and should not be watched by anyone who isn't a seasoned horror vet.

It's available to watch on Tubi and DVD if you're interested though.
