10 Amazing Sci-Fi TV Shows You Need To Stop Sleeping On

7. Fear The Walking Dead (Seasons 1 - 3)

Lost In Space
AMC

If you've flicked on Fear The Walking Dead lately and wondered what was the point of another Walking Dead series but with far less interesting characters, don't worry you're not the only one.

The truth is that there's no point in it because Fear has moved so far away from what it once was that it's completely unrecognisable, because, yes, it did once have a point.

Initially a prequel series set years before the main show, it followed a struggling family who found their worlds turned upside down when the world itself went to hell and the dead began to rise. Through some refreshingly authentic family drama and a skillful heightening of tension, it filled in the gaps and showed us how the world found itself in the state that Rick Grimes woke up to.

A slow burn, it showed us that world through the eyes of this troubled family, as Madison, Nick, Travis and Alicia Clark all had to evolve in order to survive - and what a compelling evolution it was.

Fear has never been given the credit that it deserves and it's a damn shame because, in spite of a few forgivable shortcomings, the show is responsible for the best season in the whole Walking Dead universe (Season 3) - but it's a far greater shame that it squandered all that potential by becoming a complete parody of itself following that.
