10 Amazing Sci-Fi TV Shows You Need To Stop Sleeping On

8. Altered Carbon

Lost In Space
Netflix

Netflix's cyberpunk series is set 360 years in the future where humanity has advanced to such an extent that they've figured out how to transfer the human consciousness from one body to another. Based on the eponymous novel, it follows solider-turned-detective Takeshi Kovacs as he is given the chance to piece together a mysterious murder in exchange for a second chance at life.

Purely from an aesthetic point of view, Altered Carbon is every science fiction fan's dream come to life. Taking its cues from greats that came before it like Blade Runner, the whole thing is a visual experience, delivering sights that are designed to make our jaws drop with awe.

Adding to that, it's an intricately-plotted and generally well-executed murder mystery that never once feels tied to the conventions of the archetype. Its primary character is intriguing at all times and he is portrayed very, very well by Joel Kinnamin and Anthony Mackie in Seasons 1 and 2 respectively.

The love for Altered Carbon is there, but it still feels like it hasn't quite broken out in the way that it deserves, so please stop underestimating one of the most aesthetically-pleasing shows on all of television and immerse yourself in a futuristic experience you won't regret.
