10 Amazing TV Cameos That Should've Happened (But Didn't)

6. Laura Carmichael €“ How I Met Your Mother

There are way too many cameos in How I Met Your Mother for me to even count, but some favorites have definitely included Maury Povich's frequent appearances as himself, Regis Philbin's quest to find the perfect burger, and Alex Trebek's hosting of the show we wish existed (who wouldn't love Million Dollar Heads or Tails?) But the show has also benefitted from cameos originating from their own mythology, like with James Van Der Beek, Katy Perry, and Britney Spears. That said, more cameos wouldn't really surprise anyone or offer anything new. That is, unless, they decided to go full steam with their parody of Downton Abbey. In the episode titled "The Fortress," the show revealed a popular British program that the gang frequently tuned into. But instead of it being called "Downton Abbey," the fictional show is called "Woodworthy Manor" (ha, I just got that). Sadly, we never got to see an actual scene of Woodworthy Manor. But this is How I Met Your Mother, and revisiting inside jokes is kind of their thing. Revealing an actual character from Downton Abbey on the show as the parody of himself/herself is a cameo up to the show's high caliber of writing. In this case, Laura Carmichael as a parody of her character, Lady Edith, would be perfect. Unfortunately, the show is almost over, so the chances of revisiting Woodworthy Manor are getting smaller every week.
