It's often the case when a successful comedy series runs into double figure seasons that the steam starts to run out and the gags become more worn and tired. In no way does this apply to It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, which is one of the most consistent American comedy TV series currently running. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia focuses on the lives of the Paddy's Pub gang, Mac, Charlie, Sweet Dee and her brother Dennis, who summed up the general spirit of each episode when he pointed out to them how "We immediately escalate everything to a ten... somebody comes in with some preposterous plan or idea, then all of a sudden everyone's on the gas, nobody's on the brakes, nobody's thinking, everyone's just talking over each other with one idiotic idea after another. Until, finally, we find ourselves in a situation where we've broken into somebody's house - and the homeowner is home." It's this madcap approach to comedy and its perfect combination of slapstick and verbal jockeying for supremacy which recalls the screwball comedies of the 30s and 40s - not to mention the fact that no subject is considered taboo - which makes It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia so addictive. It also features an episode in which Danny DeVito crawls naked and covered in sweat from the bowels of a leather couch - an image which will stick with you for a long, long time.
