10 Anime Fates Worse Than Death

4. Hidan's Immortal Decapitation - Naruto

Attack On Titan
Pierrot

Immortality on paper seems pretty great. You never have to worry about what comes next. You can travel the world with no limitations and can even use your power to become an S-rank missing-nin who causes havoc in the world - if you're so inclined. But, it's not all it's cracked up to be, and Hidan learned that the hard way.

Naruto villains are no strangers to death, as there were just so many of them. But, Hidan quickly stood out as one of the most memorable, thanks to his iconic scythe, foul-mouthed nature and overwhelming spite. He's precisely the kind of villain you'd want to die, but he managed to bypass that through his extensive training alongside the Jashinism religion, which granted him immortality.

This would come to bite him in the back, as he engaged in a fight against Shikamaru, who trapped him with his shadow Jutsu and surrounded him with explosive tags. Then, in a fit of vengeance, he lit the lighter of his mentor Asuma - who Hidan killed - and lit the explosives, blowing a pit into the ground and tearing Hidan's body asunder.

After Hidan survived this, Shikamaru blew another explosive that buried the villain, dooming him to remain stuck in the hole as a severed human head, unable to regenerate his body, slowly dying of malnutrition.
