10 Animes To Watch If You’ve Never Seen Anime
8. Dororo
Based on a manga series that had previously been adapted in 1969, Dororo is a heartwrenching experience full of beautiful character moments.
As almost a juxtaposition to Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood's approach, Dororo (2019) takes more liberties with the source material than its predecessor.
As a result, the show acts as a standalone experience as protagonists Dororo and Hyakkimaru travel the world ridding towns of demons. After each significant conquest, Hyakkimaru regains a piece of his body back after previously being an amputee with no skin, eyes, or other sensory organs.
What the show deals with exceptionally well is how it tackles Hyakkimaru coming to terms with his regained senses. For example, he initially becomes incapacitated after regaining his hearing due to the overwhelming amount of new sounds now deafening his ears.
There are some brilliant twists and turns throughout and an absolutely gorgeous soundtrack. Be warned, though, as this show is not for the light-hearted.
