10 Awesome Cyborgs in TV History

7. Galen - Crusade (1999)

Galen is a technomage - an extremely unique group of cyborgs introduced in the Babylon 5 television series. Technomages use technological implants in their bodies through a series of "spells". These spells provide abilities that seem magical, but of course are merely features of their cyborg technology. In Crusade, a Babylon 5 spin-off, we are introduced to Galen, although he did appear in the feature-length movie Babylon 5: A Call to Arms. Galen is one of the major characters appearing throughout Crusade. He is considered the most powerful remaining technomage in the Babylon 5 universe. Galen has learned to use his technological abilities directly rather than through the complex spell system used by his fellow technomages (which is why they're called technomages - they have technological spells), most of whom aren't even aware of their cyborg-ness. The history of the technomages is much too complex to get into in this article, so it must suffice to say that Galen's primary motivation is preventing the Shadow technology, the technology responsible for the technomage abilities, from falling into the wrong hands and causing the destruction of Earth.
