I know, I know. "He's having a laugh! He's just described Time Heist as awesome." Well it's my article and frankly I reserve the right to be a bit partisan.

The sad fact is, last year's over-conceptualized tale was quite awesome to some fans. At first. A second viewing exposed the script's various flaws, but I'd still maintain people were too hard on this rollicking chunk of pacey space opera.

What's not to like in a funny sort of way? The breathless depositing of Capaldi and Coleman into the infernal situation care of some rubber memory worms. The beautifully-executed Teller creature. Keeley Hawes for Rassilon's sake! The production oozed quality.

Unfortunately it also haemorrhaged silliness.

The heist wound up being a convoluted saga of the Doctor's making, with a dash of corporate repentance and alien abuse tossed into the mix. Writer Steve Thompson looked to do too much within the confines of forty-five minutes, so while it appeared to rock, going on the ride again revealed how wonky the wheels on this rollercoaster were.
