On to an adventure that is awesome in hindsight. Any story that chucked many peoples' favourite Doctor Tom Baker out of the TARDIS was going to be looked on as a big deal. The expression "end of an era" had never been more appropriate. Baker dominated the show. He epitomized the Time Lord, his personality fusing with that of the nation's cosmic hero.

Christopher H Bidmead's script saw the Fourth battle resurgent nemesis The Master, with the fate of all reality at stake. A suitably epic wrapping up of Baker's tenure. He met his maker (or rather his Watcher, a silent observer with a papier mache face) plummeting from the heights of a radio telescope. Rewatch the last episode though, and you can't help but feel a bit disappointed.

Generally the tale was weighted down by a fair amount of maths-heavy exposition and bad decisions - the Doctor opting to open the police box doors whilst under the Thames for example. Logopolis limps to the finish rather than sending Baker out in a blaze of self-regarding glory. Apart from that, there's the sheer jumbling of guts resulting from seeing the curly-haired icon disappear forever. Why subject yourself to the torture? Just bung The Ark In Space on and remember happier times...
