Let's take a moment to appreciate the one true king of Westeros, Stannis “The Mannis” Baratheon.

Stannis didn't really start being that much of a badass until the Battle of Blackwater, but throughout this entire episode, he is just such an amazing, standout character. Even after the insane and devastating wildfire explosion, Stannis doesn't give up, still marching forward towards the Iron Throne. "Hundreds will die," one of his men exclaims. "Thousands," he responds.

Stannis rallies his men, saying, "come with me to take this city!" And he isn't being metaphorical. He doesn't mean he'll be giving orders from behind but he'll be with them in spirit. No, unlike King Joffrey, who immediately retreats and lets his army do all the fighting while he hides inside, Stannis is the first one on the battlefield, the first one up the ladder to King's Landing, and the last one to retreat.

In fact, when it's clear the battle has ended and they've lost, Stannis has to be dragged away by his men, absolutely refusing to give up. Sure, they didn't win, but they lost in the most badass, honorable way imaginable, and Stannis really proved himself to be a confident and capable leader here. It's like he told Davos in a recent episode. "We march to victory, or we march to defeat. But we go forward. Only forward."
