The third series of Sherlock was fairly divisive, especially the first two episodes which for some strayed too far from the shows established formula-but the third episode had a much better reception. This was in large part due to the villain of the piece, which even someone who enjoyed the first two episodes would have to admit was a big step up in terms of quality. That villain was Charles Augustus Magnussen, who gave Holmes and Watson their biggest challenge since Jim Moriarty two years earlier. Magnussen was the mystery that Sherlock could not figure out; as he tried desperately to understand how he got away with his crimes, he looked past the simple answer that Magnussen was a very smart man. Its fairly common knowledge that Sherlock could be the worlds greatest criminal if he wanted to be, so its perfectly feasible that someone just as smart as him would go through with it. Having realised that he was dealing with someone that was seemingly his intellectual equal, Sherlock crossed a line that some thought he never could he murdered his adversary.
A guy who is in too far to many geeky things then he would care to admit. A film, tv and gaming enthusiast he will maintain that Rocky III is an awesome movie until he draws his final breath. Embarrassing Fact- owns five different versions of Ocarina of Time
