10 Awesome TV Shows That Never Won A (Major) Emmy Award

7. Gilmore Girls

The CW, formerly known as The WB, isn't a network that gets much recognition from Emmy voters, due to it being outside the 'Big 4' and typically skewed at a younger audience. That, though, means some great shows miss out (see also: Veronica Mars, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend).

Gilmore Girls definitely suffered from this, as well as being a dramedy, and thus slightly harder to put into either category (it entered both over the years). The series won just one Emmy over its original seven-year run, for Makeup, and that was also its only nomination.

It's easier to buy that if treating it as a Drama, because The West Wing and The Sopranos were dominating, but in the Comedy race it was certainly deserving. Its run saw awards go to the likes of Everybody Loves Raymond and Malcolm in the Middle, and the rapid dialogue, emotional beats, and whip-smart pop-culture references of Amy Sherman-Palladino's writing should've been recognised there, as should Lauren Graham's wonderful performance as Lorelai Gilmore.
