8. Game Of Thrones
Look, you probably don't need to be told this, but this show didn't exactly leave people satisfied.
But when it was good, Game Of Thrones really was one of the absolute best shows on television, and definitely one of HBO's masterworks. Its characters were complex, its content shocking, but never to a point where it became exploitative (something its copycats definitely failed to learn), and the political intrigued kept you as glued to the screen about as effectively as it kept readers glued to the novels.
However, Game Of Thrones is DEFINITELY not for everyone, not by a long shot. After all, one can hardly blame someone for not wanting to watch a show where every female character is brutally raped at least twice. So when you build up a show as the greatest thing to happen since tummy rubs, and then display such... controversial content, it's no wonder why for every person obsessed with Game Of Thrones, there were some who just couldn't get into it.
