7. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is considered one of those shows you absolutely have to see before you die. And while certainly excellent once it gets going, the show definitely leaves a lackluster first impression, especially compared to its 2003 predecessor. Indeed, while FMAB may have a superior - well - everything else, FMA 2003 has the superior beginning.

And it's easy to see why, Bones worked on both shows, so they skimmed over everything they did in the first half of 03's first season when they got to Brotherhood. Then 15 episodes later someone must have finally whacked the director upside the head and explained the problem with that approach. The first 15 episodes of Brotherhood are the prime definition of rushed. And while most people can withstand two or three lackluster first episodes, 15 is asking a bit much. And unlike Buffy, you can't skip them because they have too many important plot beats.

Still a fantastic show at the end of the day, and definitely superior to 03 where it counts. But first impressions are everything, and with the hype surrounding this show, that first season is a rough as hell sell.
