10 Awesome TV Shows Whose Hype Totally Backfired!

With only one season, 14 episodes in total to its name, the hype surrounding this show is interesting, since it's born purely out of frustration. The mishandling of this show by Fox is legendary at this point, from infamously poor advertising, to a near constantly changing time slot, Fox was determined to kill this show right out of the gate.

We'll never know what this show's true potential was, but the episodes we got were good enough that to this day, people are still talking about it. However, because of its limited amount of episodes, there's a ton of setup, with inevitably no payoff. Character arcs are seriously incomplete, plot elements that look interesting go nowhere, and generally the show is great, but feels as unfinished as it was.

Of course, bringing this up to someone might end up deterring them from actually watching it. After all, why get invested in a story that will never payoff what it sets up? It probably wouldn't be on this list if it got so much as one more season, since those 14 episodes really do live up to the hype for the most part.
