Batman: The Animated Series has garnered some well earned praise since its debut. From kicking off the entire DC animated universe that lasted throughout the 90's and into the mid-2000's, to finally getting Paul Dini that Emmy, and of course, we have this show to thank for cementing Kevin Conroy as the one true Batman and Mark Hamill as the one true Joker.

So this show is absolutely perfect, right? Well, no show is, but Batman TAS' is an interesting case, because it was made in a very different era from today. Someone watching needs to be fully aware of how shows back then worked in order to completely gel with it.

For one, this was before the time of cartoon seasons having a set amount of episodes, so each season can feel like it's going on for a while. While the show holds up shockingly well under HD scrutiny (likely partly due to every frame being drawn on black paper) the character movements can at times feel a bit sluggish.

And finally, like a lot of shows back then, it is not a streaming show, and binging it all at once will likely exhaust you. The episodes everyone talks about still hold up, but when watched in constant succession, it can wear down.

The hype, like the other entries on this list, is well earned. But selling it to someone who's grown up with today's method of watching television will require a few caveats.
