10 Awesome TV Shows Whose Hype Totally Backfired!

No one hypes like the anime community, period. The fact that we have two animes on this list should be proof enough of that. And nothing embodies the anime hype machine better than a good shonen anime. And My Hero Academia isn't just a good shonen anime, but rather one of the best that we've had in over a decade.

That is, if you LIKE shonen and all its conventions and trappings. If you don't, MHA isn't all that interested in changing your mind. Indeed, while this show (and especially the manga) have long since tipped their hand by now to reveal that they have more going on under the hood, it takes a bit to get there.
