10 Awful Seasons That Killed Great TV Shows
1. Dexter – Season 6
The concept of Dexter was great: a forensic scientist by day has a penchant for murdering bad guys by night. However, six seasons into a show you need more than just a great idea… (And FYI Dexter writers, strange incest-y brother/sister moments are not great ideas).
Season six was full of odd writing, weird developments of plot and yes, rather precarious movements between Dexter and his sister Debra. The show had been leading to the moment where Debra would discover her brother’s affinity for murder and season six heavy handily indicated it to the point where once it happened there was no shock. The formulaic writing became clear to fans and many left Dexter behind in search for something more suspenseful.
Dexter ended in its eighth season with a Rotten Tomatoes score almost as bad as the sixth, with people despising that the show wasn't able to punish its anti-hero. Fans felt like they'd spent years building up to a moment that never came and sadly got the punishment Dexter Morgan never did.
