10 Awful TV Shows With Incredible First Episodes

6. Supernatural

Big Bang Theory Pilot
The CW

Genuinely thrilling horror can be hard to come by on network television so when Supernatural broadcast its first episode way back in 2005, fans of fright everywhere rejoiced.

And why wouldn’t they? Directed to chilling perfection by future Emmy winner David Nutter, the pilot of Supernatural offers a promise of everything the show could be. The Winchester brothers investigating spooky happenings across America while hunting for their missing father and the creature that killed their mother. If this hit new show played its cards right, it was on course to be the next X-Files.

The problem is that, after fifteen years, the show is still going for seemingly no reason at all. The brothers found their father and the demon that killed their mother years ago, and every series arc since then just hasn’t lived up to the first. Simply put, even the most loyal fans don’t really care what happens to Sam and Dean anymore.

Thankfully, the final episode is due to broadcast later this month, at last putting this husk of a show out of its misery.
