10 Awful TV Shows With Incredible First Episodes

4. The Big Bang Theory

Okay. This one is going to be contentious on both sides.

Some will argue that saying The Big Bang Theory is a bad show is blasphemy, while others will say that calling any episode of the show ‘incredible’ is also blasphemy. Let’s hope that these two warring factions can at least agree that the pilot establishes the premise, characters, and tone in a way that not even some of the best sitcoms can manage to do.

Love them or loathe them, Leonard, Sheldon, Raj, Howard, and Penny are all given defined personality traits from their very first appearances and the dynamic between them all is instantly likeable. The episode manages to leave the audience wanting more from this quirky gang and that’s exactly what a first episode should be.

But after twelve seasons, the characters had pretty much gone everywhere they could go and whatever magic critics thought was there in the first few seasons just wasn’t around anymore. The once hilarious cry of ‘Bazinga’ from Sheldon now only served to annoy most people and it’s probably for the best that we won’t be hearing that on our television screens anymore.

For now, at least.
