10 Awful TV Shows With Incredible First Episodes
2. Once Upon A Time
Another pilot episode, another fantastic premise to be run into the ground.
Disney-produced television programmes have always been up and down, but when Once Upon A Time appeared on our screens in 2011, it showed real potential. A dark curse hangs over the town of Storybrooke, where classic fairy-tale characters live under the watchful eye of the Evil Queen, and only a modern-day woman down on her luck can free the residents and save the day. That’s a story that you want to tune in for week after week and, for a while, audiences did.
But remember that part about Disney shows being up and down? Well, this one was up and then down.
What started out as a show with limitless potential ended as a train wreck that wasted classic characters on painfully slow plotlines that never went anywhere or really ended up mattering at all.
The pilot and the first season are well worth the watch. But after that, just switch over to one of the classic fairytale movies on Disney+ and daydream about what could have been.
