10 Most Awkward Moments In Modern Family

2. Mitch Mistakes Dwarf For Long Lost Son

Our Children OurselvesEpisode: Our Children, Ourselves This was one of those moments where you had to remember that "it's only a show, no one actually did this". But it still doesn't help as you watch Mitch run into ex-fling Tracy, who Mitch hooked up with before he came out eight years ago. The conversation was pleasant until Mitch notices from a far that Tracy is being accompanied by a short individual with red hair like his own. Fearing that the person may be his son that he was never told about, Mitch requests to meet this person. But as Mitch and Cam arrive to Tracy's home with a gift in hand and Mitch never stating why he wanted to meet the person he saw Tracy with, things inevitably get a bit odd. So when Tracy calls Mitch into the room we get the coup de grace €“ it's not Mitch's long lost son, it's a dwarf who happens to be Tracy's husband. Of course, you might expect the awkwardness to end there, but this is Modern Family and Mitch still has an ace up his sleeve €“ his gift. It's one of the most cringe-worthy moments on the show when Mitch hands over the gift he bought for his non-existent son €“ a "Little Slugger" baseball glove. You can almost taste the embarrassment. As you watch the moment unfold you just can't help but feel bad for Tracy and her husband as the look on insulted but also for Mitch as Cam simply walks out to leave Mitch with the awkward situation. It is one of those moments when you thank god that you have never put yourself in such a silly moment. But it is sincerely one of Modern Family's most awkward moments.
