3. Claire Gets Her Coat Stuck in Escalator While Wearing Nothing Underneath
Episode: My Funky Valentine The Dunphy parents love role play as much as the next couple. With three kids and the stresses of life, a little romantic relaxing on Valentine's Day sounds like a great idea. So you would think as Phil and Claire take on new identities as Clive Bixby and Julianna for the evening at a local hotel. As Clive waits at the bar for his "mysterious" stranger, Julianna arrives with panties and all in hand for Clive to know she's wearing nothing underneath her coat. But of course, such a standard romantic liaison would seem way too simple for these two. Phil and Claire make their way up an escalator to their room but then unfortunately, Claire's coat gets stuck in the moving steps. Pressing the emergency stop button, they try but fail to remove the coat. Now acquaintances from work and their children's school magically arrive to offer help and suggest just taking the coat off, unaware of the nudity that awaits. But things get worse as Jay, Claire's father, arrives with his wife Gloria. Finding out the reason for the mishap, Gloria assists Claire by claiming that she too has been in the same situation. Some of the worst awkward moments happen with good intentions in mind, and this is just one of the many mishaps that seem to dog the Dunphys. But still, poor, poor Claire.
