4. Phil Thinks Haley's College Roommate Is Claire

Moving2Episode: Schooled Seeing your child off to college is a memorable milestone, if not a cliché, for any parent. And getting out on your own for the first time is also a defining moment of adulthood as you find your dorm, meet your roommate, and make new friends at college. But you can rest assure that Phil and Claire Dunphy will make Haley's move-in day for college the combination of the worst ways to ruin any chance of a social life. Phil and Claire are overran with emotion, but bratty Haley is ready for them to leave so she can do things on her own, rather than be overburdened with their smothering and advice. However, that's pretty much what normal parents do, and they haven't got anything on these two. Beyond making her bed with childish bed sheets and wearing embarrassing t-shirts marking the occasion, Phil mistakes Haley's new roommate for Claire. Phil walks into the small dorm room to see someone bent over, and thinking it's his wife, he sneaks over and squeezes the woman's butt and whispers something to accompany the action but the person scream and turns. Phil finds that he had accidentally touched his daughter's roommate. To make matters worse, the roommate's parents enter along with Claire and Haley. Phil tries to explain, horribly. Then a backpack is picked up and a box of condoms that Claire attempted to sneak into Haley's belongings is spilled all over the floor in front of everyone. Naturally, a good first impression is no longer a priority here.
