The first Red Ranger to not know how to crack a smile when introduced, Andros brought a level of redemption and revenge to the Red Ranger persona not seen at that point. Power Rangers in Space did much in not only saving the franchise after the, a-hem, SLIGHT hiccup that was Turbo, but brought in solid story-telling that expanded on the Power Rangers universe. A Ranger both in exile and on the run from his enemies, Andros brought some degree of substance and 3D-ness to the Red Ranger role, showing that not all Red Rangers took on such roles through their own want, but taking on the power simply because it has to be done. Plus, he was the first Red Ranger to have a Battleizer - how does it get more bad-ass than that?
