10 Banned Episodes Of Famous TV Shows

3. Room To Ride (2008) - Arthur

The X Files
PBS

Yes, another harmless kids' show got an episode pulled. What a world. And once again, the ban was down to a well-intentioned cameo appearance from a once-revered public figure.

Room To Ride was the first episode of Arthur's 12th season, and it saw supporting character Binky inspired to get out on his bike after watching a televised race featuring a certain Lance Armstrong, with the cycling champion voicing himself (or rather, his rabbit-eared equivalent).

Back in 2008 when the episode first aired, Armstrong was still beloved worldwide as a survivor of cancer, and a record-breaking 7-time winner of the Tour de France. However, by 2012 Armstrong had been banned from all future competition once it came to light that he owed his previous victories to long-term doping.

Given Armstrong's disgrace, presenting him as an example to younger viewers no longer seemed especially appropriate, hence PBS opted to withdraw Room To Ride from circulation.

See, Lance Armstrong? Not only did you ruin the final act of Dodgeball, you messed up the continuity of Arthur. We hope you're satisfied.

Ben Bussey hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
