10 Best Aaron Sorkin TV Characters

4. Will McAvoy

Will McAvoyShow: The Newsroom Played by: Jeff Daniels Because who doesn't love a curmudgeon? Jeff Daniels plays the cantankerous Will McAvoy, anchor for News Night, the cable news program struggling for ratings and identity. The opening scene to the series will always be remembered as one of the great Sorkin speeches of all time. It€™s hard to listen to that speech and not think, €œHe nailed it.€ We all wish our public figures and journalist would stop trying to flower things up and occasionally editorialize something as important as the cold hard facts of the manner. It helps that Daniels is a great actor who is the most natural out of his cast members when delivering the Sorkin lines, but Will is a deep character with bright ideas (come on, that mock debate was perfect€”we should really consider that format during the next primary season). Fun Fact: Will comes from a background in law with a 94% conviction rate as a prosecutor.

I'm currently getting my masters in Writing and Publishing in Chicago. I usually fill my time with marathoning great television. My favorite shows are The Sopranos, Mad Men, Six Feet Under, Breaking Bad, Dexter, The Wire, Lost, and so much more. Count on me to write mainly about television.
