10 Best Animated Comedy TV Shows On Netflix Right Now

2. Rick and Morty

Adult Swim

With an entirely original sense of humour and painstaking attention to detail, both in visuals and in writing, Rick and Morty has reached universal acclaim from critics and almost fanatic adoration from its fans. I mean, what other show could prompt McDonald's to revive a 20-year old sauce with just an offhand joke?

The show was born out of great creative chemistry between Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, and that chemistry really translates onto the screen. When it comes to the writing, the characters and their relationships are incredibly well-developed, the stories are imaginative and unpredictable, and the dialogue is sharp and reliably hilarious. The animation might appear somewhat crude at first glance, but it has its attractive qualities and it fits the show's general quirkiness to a tee.

Rick and Morty is a series that inspired many spoofs and imitations, spawned an entire media franchise, and gave us innumerable internet memes. Including it on this list is a bit of a cheat, since it's not a part of Netflix's American catalogue (you can watch all five seasons on Hulu, HBO Max, or the Adult Swim website), but its availability in multiple other countries gave us an excuse to sneak it in.
