Now, yes Star Wars is generally considered a cornerstone of the sci-fi genre. But the core elements of the franchise are rooted in unseen forces and powerful magic. Thus, it more than qualifies for this list. And to be perfectly honest, this show right here deserves all the plaudits it can get from all corners.

This was the prequel story we deserved and sadly never got in the movies. Here we see all our favorite Jedis from Yoda to Ahsoka Tano, battling it out against the Separatist Alliance and their infinite droid armies. It is everything good about the franchise crammed into a series of under 25 minute episodes. With enough laser exchanges, X-Wing battles and of course, lightsaber duels to keep us happy.

More importantly perhaps, it gives Anakin Skywalker the story he deserves. A riveting tale of a man struggling to make good on the expectations placed on his shoulder, while at the same time adhering to the principles he has sworn to. And unlike the movies, here when we do get to the diplomatic battles, it makes for a genuinely intriguing back and forth between various groups each with their own interests.

The show also makes room for focusing on other characters and their development. This was by far the most enjoyable and dangerous version of General Grievous. The threat of an unknown Sith Lord masterminding the whole thing is presented in a manner that is interesting despite the obvious reveal. And of course, we get the brilliant story of Ahsoka as she adapts to her life as Anakin’s Padawan, before coming into her own as a powerful user of the Force. May the Force be with the showrunners.

After battling Galactus and pinning Hulk Hogan in the main event of Wrestlemania, I've taken a break from living in fantasy worlds, to focus on writing about them. I'm a comic book geek, a wrestling mark, a break dancer, and a scientist. One of those things may not be true.
