10 Best Animated Fantasy TV Shows Of All Time

5. Masters Of The Universe Vs The Snake Men

Another reboot of a beloved '80s show, He-Man and his trusty Masters of the Universe returned to our screens in 2002 and delivered a magical extravaganza that stays with us to this day. He-Man is generally considered one of the quintessential male superheroes. And while the character tends to reinforce a lot of stereotypes, this show best highlighted all the things we love about the protector of Eternia.

The show kicks off with the evil Keldor being defeated and banished to the Dark Hemisphere. Unfortunately as is usually the case with dark overlords, he finds a way to return. And thus we see the arrival of the iconic Skeletor.

Upon his comeback though, the faceless villain finds himself face to face with a hero unlike any other, the mighty He-Man. In reality the son of the man who first defeated Keldor and current Prince of Eternia, He-Man, or Adam as he is known in regular form, must constantly juggle family responsibilities with his duty as the wielder of the power of Grayskull.

The two sides are locked in a fierce conflict all throughout the show, with more villains coming and going. The titular antagonists take a while getting here but once King Hiss and his Snake Men do emerge from their own prisons, both the stakes and the action are propelled to new levels.

The narrative expands on most of the characters and takes its time developing their personas, making the whole thing that much more engrossing. The writing for the most part was also excellent, with a satisfactory payoff to the main plot.

After battling Galactus and pinning Hulk Hogan in the main event of Wrestlemania, I've taken a break from living in fantasy worlds, to focus on writing about them. I'm a comic book geek, a wrestling mark, a break dancer, and a scientist. One of those things may not be true.
