10 Best Anime Romances Of All Time

Besides Haikyuu, most sports anime feel the need to have some kind of added on element to their story to set it apart, and of course to convince anime fans (who by and large aren't exactly the sporty types) to watch it by promising to be more than just boys in shorts chucking balls everywhere. Again, this was before Haikyuu came along to show that that was more than enough on its own.

Baby Steps is one of the most under appreciated anime you can find. Being both a tennis anime, as well as a romantic comedy, the central focus was of course on our main characters Eiichiro (or A-chan) and Natsu.

A-chan is a straight A overachiever, but only because that's what his strict parents and school WANT him to be, not because he actually ENJOYS studying late into the night, having few friends due to his focus on studies, and generally being socially dead.

Natsu on the other hand, is practically MADE of passion - particularly for tennis - and convinces A-chan to come out of his shell and give it a try. And sure enough, he finds out that he actually REALLY loves tennis.

Though overshadowed by the aforementioned Haikyuu, Baby Steps did run for two seasons, so you got to see not only A-chan and Natsu get together, but spend an entire season being a very functional and loving couple who inspire each other to be better players and better people.
