10 Best Anime TV Series Of 2016 (So Far)

8. Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto (Sakamoto Desu Ga?)

My Hero Academia 2
Studio Deen

This slice of life anime is light and enjoyable and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Sakamoto is sophisticated, handsome, athletic, intelligent, and the list goes on and on. However, on his very first day in high school, his numerous, attractive traits become the reason his classmates grow jealous of him, and why they attempt to hurt him and his pride.

Each episode of the series is made-up of daily situations where Sakamoto’s meaner classmates try to attack and embarrass him. Sakamoto, in the most non-violent and elegant ways, constantly diffuses and evades their plans, and often gains their respect and admiration through the actions he's taken to stop them.

The show is simple on the the surface yet offers complex life lessons. It traverses high-school life and the many insecurities that come with being a teenager. The show is highly educational and fun, making for an easy watch after a stressful day at work.

I like to think of myself as a world traveler and social butterfly, although I do spend a lot of my time watching the latest Japanese anime series, sitcoms, movies, and drama series. I live on the island of Crete, where I was born, and enjoy walking on the beach with my little cocker spaniel, Molly, when I'm not writing for WhatCulture.com and UNILAD.co.uk.
