This anime is part of the fall releases of 2016 and is still ongoing. So far the series has hit all the right notes for those looking for a meaningful and beautifully animated series.
The story follows a 17-year old professional Shogi player, Rei, and his daily struggles. He is emotionally unstable and haunted by his past and current situation. The show is deep and emotional, and focuses on the simplest of human bonds. Rei is broken and alone in the world, a feeling many can relate to. Three sisters, take him in and show him unconditional love, giving him a reason to try, a reason to survive.
Each episode gives viewers a first hand look into Japan and the traditional art of Japanese chess, Shogi. The characters are all warm and likable, and the show does well to bind deep troubles and struggles with an amusing take on the everyday life of a high-school student. Lastly, the animation and soundtrack are beautiful and heart-warming, making the scenery and setting of the series easy to watch.
Only four episodes have been released so far, but March Comes In Like A Lion has started strong, and has all the makings of an outstanding anime series.
