10 Best Brooklyn Nine-Nine Episodes

8. Yippie Kayak

Brooklyn Nine Nine
NBC

Peralta's obsession with the movie Die Hard is a lovingly endearing aspect of his personality, as it makes you understand what being a cop means to him. He has an attachment to something that truly inspired him in his childhood, and that is a great character trait, even if it's not the most subtle. The episode Yippie Kayak is a great way to see how he would deal with actually getting to live his dream.

The premise surrounds Christmas at the Nine-Nine after Jake has forgotten to buy Boyle a present for the holiday. He, Gina and unfortunately Charles go to rectify this issue - with Boyle being unaware that it's for his sake. However, once they get into the store, a group of criminals enter and take hostages, putting the gang into a real-life Die Hard situation.

As expected, the excitement Jake exudes makes for some compelling character moments, but the real star of the show is Charles Boyle. Not only is the conflict incredibly interesting for this character, but he ultimately gets the chance to be the hero and does a great job of it, even if he misquotes a little.

Jake allowing Charles to take his Die Hard moment is a surprisingly beautiful sign of their friendship, and it makes the episode great to watch.
