10 Best Brooklyn Nine-Nine Episodes
3. HalloVeen
The Halloween heist is fun because of how subversive it always feels. There is a deliberate effort to convince viewers that something unexpected is coming, and in the case of the fifth version of this game, not only is the ending shocking, but it ultimately results in a wholesome scene that sets up a big part of the show's future.
In this ep, Halloween heist five is underway, and the previous winners make it clear that this time everyone is eligible to win. Soon, plenty of hi-jinks ensue - in traditional heist fashion - with the mission to steal the championship cummerbund being full of twists and turns. A specific highlight has to be the involvement of Cheddar, with Holt's reaction to finding out that he is a fake being utterly hilarious. However, the main reason this one ranks so high is the aforementioned climax.
Instead of finding a twist ending that shows one of the squad manipulating events to win the championship, we discover that the entire thing was a plot by Jake to propose to Amy. It's a lovely moment and makes this Halloween heist particularly special.
When it comes to this couple getting engaged, there surely was no better way to do it.
