Cordelia Chase's arc was mostly non-existent in the first three seasons of Buffy, but upon moving on to the spin-off and befriending Angel, she proved to be one of the most compelling characters in the franchise. At first shallow, a casual bully who lived for popularity and acceptance, her move to L.A saw her grow up and realise there was more to life than the material things.

Forming Angel Investigations with Angel and new friend Doyle, Cordelia began an arc that centred around helping people. After the death of Doyle, she was able to see people in danger, giving Angel the chance to save people throughout the city. She grew selfless and brave, and though she never lost that sassy edge, she did become more mature and fully-formed as the show went on.

Angel's fourth season betrayed her character slightly, effectively making her the bad guy and killing her off, but one last stop in season five allowed Cordelia to prove her heroism and set on Angel on the path needed to stop the coming apocalypse. Cordelia was fierce, loyal and complex, and despite the blip, she had one of the best arcs in the series.
