Though Darla's arc was more than exceptional enough to gain a place on this list, no recurring character on either show had a more impressive arc than the rogue Slayer, Faith Lehane. Introduced in season three after the death of Kendra, Faith proved to be charismatic, likeable, and a bit of an adrenaline junkie. Unlike Buffy, she got enjoyment out of killing vampires and demons.

After accidentally killing Sunnydale's deputy mayor, Faith became distant and even tried to blame Buffy for the murder. With her lust for power growing, she nearly killed Xander before joining forces with big bad Mayor Wilkins. Under his influence, Faith manipulated the Scooby Gang and Buffy was forced to put her into a coma after a vicious fight.

When she woke up, Wilkins was dead, and Buffy and the gang had moved on. Faith tried to get revenge, but upon failing ran off to L.A, where she went after Angel, who talked some sense into her and forced her to pay for her crimes. Then, after a stint in jail, she fought alongside Buffy at the Battle of the Hellmouth, finally becoming one of the heroes and atoning for her sins.
