10 Best Christmas TV Episodes You Can Watch On Netflix
1. Peep Show - "Seasonal Beatings"
Mark Corrigan and Jeremy Usbourne's Christmas is perhaps one of the most uncomfortable Christmases depicted on the small screen but - in classic Peep Show style - all the funnier for it.
From Mark snapping at Jeremy for seemingly forgetting the turkey ("You what? No turkey?!") to the tension between Mark and his father over whether cauliflower is a traditional Christmas vegetable (it's not), the Christmas special is a perfect balance of cringe humour and a well observed British family Christmas. Every character is a relatable family member at Christmas - Jeremy is the overexcited child wanting everything to be perfect, Mark is the peacekeeper between family members and Super Hans is the disruptive influence threatening to bring Christmas tumbling down around everyone.
The eventual mood may be closer to Black Mirror's downbeat Christmas ending than Friend's feelgood ending as Mark fails to stand up to his father after he suggests putting a muzzle on his girlfriend, Dobby. Despite not saying anything in an attempt to keep the peace, which results in Dobby leaving, Mark gets back at his father by destroying his second-hand present of a shredder with ham and gravy... so a bittersweet ending.
