7. Ice Governess

Doctor Who The Snowmen
BBC Studios

An invention of the Great Intelligence, this frosty foe was one of several seasonal baddies to face the Eleventh Doctor in 2012's The Snowmen.

When the Latimer family's governess fell through the ice pond and drowned, her image was captured by the Great Intelligence - a sentience possessing the snow in Victorian London. She was reanimated by the Intelligence, who saw Francesca Latimer's fear of her governess as a potential weapon.

Near indestructible, with the ability to mimic others and freeze objects, the Ice Governess was to be a template used by the Great Intelligence to build an unstoppable army on Earth.

Managing to break into the TARDIS which was parked on top of a cloud, the Governess forced the Victorian Clara Oswald over the edge where she fell to her death. Tumbling with her, the Ice Governess shattered and her remains were collected by the grieving Doctor.

Returning the pieces to the TARDIS where they wouldn't be able to rebuild themselves, the Doctor focused his attention on defeating the Great Intelligence and saving Christmas.
