8. Wooden Monarchs

More decorative dangers who crossed paths with the Eleventh Doctor, these wooden monarchs were constructed from the sentient wood of an Androzani tree.

Carved, imposing and resembling Christmas ornaments, the wooden king and queen guarded the Androzani forests. There they ensured that no pesky kids, Harvest Rangers or Time Lords interfered with their rule.

Little is known about these tree people. Appearing in 2011's Christmas Special, The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe, the wooden monarchs served as secondary antagonists to a team of humans with a fondness for deforestation and giant harvest robots.

Attempting to possess children under the Doctor's care, the wooden monarchs aimed to protect their forest from the Harvest Rangers - but at the cost of the children's lives. If possessed, the children would be too weak to channel the forest energies and would quickly burn out.

Madge, the children's mother, instead became a host for these creatures and absorbed the spirit of the forest to save her children. In doing so, she returned everyone home and the day was saved.

With the forest free from the Rangers and now finding themselves without purpose, the wooden monarchs were ejected out of the time vortex so they could decorate space instead.
