5. The Racnoss

Doctor Who The Snowmen
BBC

A monstrous force from the dawn of time, the Empress of the Racnoss attempted to conquer Earth at Christmas with her children, and her destructive Webstar.

The main antagonist of 2006's The Runaway Bride, the Empress of the Racnoss dosed Donna Noble with Huon particles in a bid to awaken the last of the Racnoss burrowed deep in the Earth's core.

Clearly not afraid of spiders, the Tenth Doctor defeated the Empress by flooding her base and drowning the others in the process.

Only when Donna begged him to stop did the Doctor stop flushing the spiders away. Seeing an escape route, the Empress teleported to her orbiting Webstar.

With a new plan to attack the Earth with her star-shaped spaceship, this demonic spider declared war - right in time for the holidays.

Thinking the Webstar was a new and expensive Christmas decoration, Londoners stopped to admire the spaceship. When it began its lightning storm on the streets of London, they got the message and scarpered - no longer mistaking the weapon for an overblown ornament.

The Webstar, and the last of the Racnoss, were quickly destroyed - no match for missiles fired from tanks under the order of the mysterious 'Mr Saxon.'
