10 Best Doctor Who Moments Of 2024
4. Doctor Who Returns To The Proms
Music has always been a big part of Doctor Who, and fans have occasionally had the chance to hear it performed live, most notably at the BBC Proms.
Appropriately enough for a year in which the Doctor battled the God of Music, 2024 saw Doctor Who return to the Proms for its biggest concert yet.
As was the case in 2008, 2010 and 2013, the programme was largely based around the current era. However, there were also suites dedicated to the Twelfth, Thirteenth and Fourteenth Doctors (whose music had never been performed at the Proms before), plus old favourites such as I Am The Doctor, Abigail’s Song and Vale Decem.
Catherine Tate was presenting and Anita Dobson had an in-character appearance as Mrs Flood. There was even an interactive cutaway scene involving Maestro and that famous Beatles hit, I’ve Got A Dog.
It was a wonderful celebration of Murray Gold and Segun Akinola’s scores for the show, thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. And for anyone else, the entire thing is now available to watch on BBC iPlayer!
