10 Best Episodes Of The Good Place

There are many shows out there that will go out of their way to pull off a big twist, or focus on the humour of a situation, or concentrate on bringing genuine empathy to the table. This episode is just another example of how The Good Place consistently managed to do this all at the same time.

The episode begins with a shocking accusation that Michael is actually not Michael at all, but instead demon Vicky in disguise. As Eleanor discusses this possibility with the humans, Michael seemingly refuses to cooperate, but for reasons that are truly heartbreaking. Danson's delivery of dialogue discussing how awful his true form is had our eyes welling big time.

As per usual, each joke hits the mark with precision while adding to the overall narrative. From Chidi's horrendous illustration brought to life, to the deliciously dorky entry of wimpy demon Glenn and absolutely every line from Jason, it just all works.

And then there's the twist, the shock revelation that Good Janet is actually an Evil Janet in disguise. Unlike random twists thrown in by other television serials (Dr Who I'm looking at you!), this is brilliantly conceived and makes you look at the earlier episodes of the series in a whole new light. Fool me once, well done you, fool me twice, well that's damn good writing!
