10 Best Halloween Themed TV Episodes You Have To See

3. Halloween - The Office

Like the rest of the show, The Office's Halloween from Season 2 perfectly captures the mundanity of the workplace, except now with decorations and half-assed costumes. In yet another example of Michael's cluelessness having real consequences on office morale, Michael was told by corporate to let someone go by the end of October, and he of course put it off the entire month. Now, he has no choice but to fire someone on Halloween, which is going to put a real damper on the giant party they have planned. When Pam asks why he put it off until today, Michael simply responds, "because it's very scary stuff."

It's just so cringeworthy, as Michael appears to be picking who to fire based on absolutely no criteria. He even chooses Creed at first, only to change his mind when Creed convinces him to fire Devon instead. Like a lot of great Office episodes, it also gets at the true loneliness of Michael Scott. He's totally incompetent but also well meaning, as if a child was suddenly put in charge of people and given really important decisions to make. The final scene, where Michael cleans pumpkin off his car and then sits at home alone and sad, is one of the most heartbreaking in the series, making it a surprisingly dark holiday episode.
